The Industry of Yoga

Interesting conversation between John Philp, author of Yoga Inc. and Ted Grand, founder of Moksha Yoga. It is moderated by Jian Ghomeshi and concerns the commercial nature of Yoga in North America.

Best line: “It doesn’t matter why people come in. I don’t care if they come in for a tight butt or to look better naked.” – Ted Grand

Very interesting conversation, I can see both sides; commercial and enlightenment and being very new to Yoga I can honestly say that those small intervals when I get that spurt of nostalgia focusing on breathe, touch, stretch and burst of fulfillment with more oxygen and nothing is present except for the moment. That is what I crave, focus for more of and I wouldn’t be able to experience it without the commercial yoga. A safe place to follow direction with assorted experience levels. Although, Starbucks yoga is a scary thought. Thanks for sharing!
