Shantidas Yoga

A little about what I’ve done and what I do. On account of how much good Yoga has done for me I know that it can improve everyone’s lives, just in different ways. As such, I am committed to teaching as many people as I can and I don’t say ‘no’ often to an opportunity to share. This attitude has led me to have a wide range of teaching experiences with students of every age and type. I have taught in small companies and big companies (Bombardier & Desjardins), for both the French and English Montreal school boards (primary & high school), in ashrams, at kids’ camps, in yoga studios, at Concordia, in juvenile detention and at seniors residences. This refers mostly to the teaching of Hatha-Yoga (asanas and pranayama). I am more interested in sharing in depth studies and chanting of the Yogasutras of Patanjali.

Thanks to my academic and personal studies I have also been invited to different venues to speak on Yoga; notably several times to undergraduate classes in the Department of Religion (Concordia), a full day workshop for the spiritual animators of the EMSB and the annual “Evening for Peace” hosted by the Franciscans. I have also been asked to lectures at a number of Yoga techer trainings. Most recently, I was invited by Radio-Canada to participate in an panel discussion about Yoga. You can hear the French interview here.

I understand myself as a complete yoga teacher who can adapt to teach what is best for each student with a little more than just asana. I do not hold any association to any particular style or brand and am free of such limitations. I believe in Yoga and I believe our practice must always be accompanied with self-study and education. The more you know, the more you’ll get out of it and we’re doing it for ourselves after all. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a particular question or topic you would like to see discussed.
